Treatment depends on the initial situation and treatment. Local recurrences often require aggressive local therapy, which means more surgery and radiotherapy . A recurrence in the same area as the original tumor makes another recurrence even more likely. • If previous treatment was aggressive, amputation may be needed for tumors of the arm or leg. • If lung metastasis is the first area of recurrence, treatment is the same as for Stage IV disease. • If tumors recur after chemotherapy treatment, clinical trials using new agents are appropriate.
